New face at MIB: Annika Partmann

MIB is glad to welcome PhD student from University of Fribourg, Switzerland.

Annika is a PhD student at the Department of Cognitive Biopsychology and Methods at University of Fribourg in Switzerland. She studied Psychology with a focus on cognitive neuroscience in Münster, Germany, where she developed a keen interest in sleep and consciousness.

The focus of her PhD lies on comparing emotional reactions and brain oscillations induced by music during wakefulness and different sleep stages. As individuals differ in which types of music induce feelings of pleasure or displeasure, she is particularly interested in comparing the responses elicited by preferred and non-preferred musical stimuli.

She is visiting MIB for four months as part of the MSCA doctoral network "Lullabyte" and is looking forward to starting her project under the supervision of MIB Associate Professor Kira Vibe Jespersen, where she will conduct a pooled analysis of data from three randomised controlled trials using music intervention in participants with sleep problems. Her focus will be to determine the role of liking the music presented during the intervention on the effect of music on sleep.
