New face at MIB: Ébano Resende

MIB is joined by postdoc from the Acoustics Research Institute (ARI) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW) in Vienna.

Ébano Resende is a postdoctoral researcher at the Acoustics Research Institute (ARI) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW) in Vienna. He studied Music and Musicology at the Université Paris Sorbonne (Paris IV) and Musical Acoustics at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Paris (CNSMDP).

His research is focused on Absolute Pitch (AP) and the limitations this ability may engender. He is particularly interested in individuals who have AP for specific contexts, referred in the literature as non-global absolute pitch possessors. His research project entitled “Is absolute (perfect) pitch a hinderance for musical ability?” supervised by Dr. Marisa Hoeschele received in 2023 the Seal of Excellence from the European Commission Horizon Europe (Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions - MSCA).

Ébano will work at MIB and RAMA for 2 months under the supervision of Dr. Niels Christian Hansen, RAMA, where he will develop part of his current project and intensify his training in musical neurosciences. During his time at MIB he will also be collaborating on ongoing research conducted by Dr. Victor Pando and Dr. Leonardo Bonetti.
