New face at MIB: Elisa Serra
MIB is joined by visiting PhD student from University of Oxford.
Elisa Serra is a visiting PhD student from the University of Oxford. She is enthusiastic about embarking on a six-month research stay at MIB, where she will initiate a research project alongside MIB Associate Professor Leonardo Bonetti, delving into the brain dynamics of auditory memory in dementia.
During this time, they will employ magnetoencephalography (MEG) to investigate how the brain processes, stores, and retrieves sequences of musical sound. The primary focus of their research lies in understanding the impact of dementia and ageing on memory and brain function. Additionally, they are interested in exploring how a deeper knowledge of these dynamics may be harnessed for early detection of dementia, ultimately enhancing the prognosis for patients.
Elisa loves to travel and is looking forward to maintaining a lasting connection with MIB throughout the entirety of her PhD programme.
